Hello 2015!!

Well hello there 🙂 Fancy seeing you here! I am so delighted to be writing my first blog of 2015! I know you are probably thinking where the hell I have been but between Christmas, New Years and my graduation I have been absolutely up the walls. But I’m back now and you can breathe a sigh of relief 😉

theUPSIDE I am back

So I just wanted to share some pictures with you of my graduation which has definitely been #TheUPSIDE to my January. I was so delighted to be able to get to celebrate the day with both my parents, boyfriend and my entire class. Over the course of the 4 year at WIT I have made some great friends but there was 3 women in particular i could not have done it without. Alison Rea, Aoife Goulding and Edwina McGrath pictured below are 3 of the most amazing women I have ever met and friends for life. Incredible women that I wish every success to in the future.

During the week I had heard on Red Fm that this week is the worst week in the calendar year for people suffering from mental health issues. This comes after the holiday season and people facing a bit of a downer. People also tend to fall off the bandwagon this week with their new years resolutions. I know how this feels and it can be very hard to keep up with new years resolutions but I would suggest keep going and set out a goal for yourself. Small goals are great things to have and will keep your spirits up.

Another amazing campaign that has been launched recently is Suicide Aware “Amber Flag” and I would encourage you to check this out and get involved. Is it set out help stop the stigma of mental health issues and made to focus on schools and businesses doing their part to help in mental health awareness.

Mental health is such an important topic and we should all encourage one another to talk more. Meet up with friends, give someone you may not have talked to in a long time a text or a call. Most people will not approach friends and family with issues they may be suffering from so we need to actually ask people “How are you?” “How is work?” “Are you doing ok?”. Just one small question can mean so much to someone so please make an effort in 2015 to TALK. I know I love to talk and would talk to a wall so more people need to start doing this.

One last point is go out in 2015 and have fun. People can get so caught up with money, work and other things getting them down. If you can take just a few minutes for yourself to enjoy something you love to do, then do it!!! Make time for you and smile a little more.
